Homeless for the Homeless 2009

E-mail Print PDF

The Rochester chapter of Delta Upsilon held its 18th annual “Homeless for the Homeless” event from Friday February 27 2009 at 5:00 p.m. to Sunday March 1st 2009 at 5:00 p.m. We hold this event every year to heighten and spread the awareness of the conditions and struggle that the homeless face in their daily existence. Our project is simple, and yet effective. For the duration, the brothers of the fraternity “live” in boxes in two hour shifts in the Rochester cold to simulate the lives of the homeless. We work to raise money for Habitat for Humanity International. The Brothers of Delta Upsilon ask the student body of the University of Rochester and the local community for donations throughout the event. We also collect food and clothing.

This year, Delta Upsilon Fraternity at the University of Rochester managed to raise $824.91 for Habitat for Humanity, and collect clothing as well as several cans of food.
